Sketchbook Peek – Face in Soft Pencil

My sketchbook is full of drawings of faces and sometimes I ask myself why I like to draw them so much.  I haven’t figured out the answer totally yet but I think it may have something to do with ‘meeting’ a new person each time I draw one. I see the personality emerging as I continue drawing and I find it fascinating. Is that weird?

Anyway, here’s a face that I sketched not too long ago that I really like.  I quite like the effect of the soft pencil I used and it was quite meditative to draw her.

I can’t help wondering what she’s thinking.

What is your sketchbook full of?  And if you’re not an artist, do you doodle whilst on the phone?

  2. Love this blog.
I know what you mean about drawing faces so No it is not weird (although I think many people believe me to be weird…lol).
Right…I’m off to see your Main Site now. Cheerio :-)
    Stew.

  3. She’s just lovely and does look very pensive. I can imagine that it was very meditative to draw her.

  4. I can imagine you creating personalities in your head for your faces too…I invent landscapes & places!

    • I’m glad I’m not the only one inventing! I love your landscapes by the way :-) I like to use coloured pencils sometimes in my sketchbook so maybe I’ll show more of those.

  5. Nice sketch! Looks relaxed, and probably relaxing while drawing too =) Love the soft touch

  6. What a sweet, sweet face. I love it.
